The aim of this site is to provide you, the consumer, with some clear, simple information on the UK household and contents insurance market. If you own a house or a flat or you are about to buy one you will need to know how to insure it. Our aim is to guide you through this process.

We've spend a fair amount of time researching what sort of information is out there on the internet on the home insurance market. There's one heck of a lot of it. That's for sure. But much of it frankly isn't a lot of use if you want facts rather than a sales pitch. A lot of household insurance sites are owned by individual insurance companies who are trying to sell you their own product. Those that aren't owned by insurance companies tend to take you straight to a price comparison between various policies without explaining why you might want one sort of insurance cover rather than another. In short, most of the sites we have come across are designed to get you to part with your money without - it seems to us - anyone caring very much whether you are buying something that is suitable for your needs or not. We like to think we are a bit different.

In fact it doesn't make a lot of difference to us whether you buy an insurance policy having looked at this site or not. You can of course do so if you want to by clicking the links page. This will take you directly to a site which provides you with quotations from some of the UK's leading insurance companies. And if you do this we make no apology for the fact that we will make a bit of money. But that's not really what we are about. As explained above we want you to have access to some thorough, objective information of the household insurance sector - the sort of information that we think is fairly difficult to find out there on the internet. So stay with us if you want facts not a hard sell.
